Released in the late August of 2018, Xiaomi managed to come up with another great overall phone. The new line of the hyped mid-range brand is called the Xiaomi Pocophone F1. This is the first phone from the Pocophone line. Most reviewers consider this phone as a cheaper alternative of Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro.

Xiaomi Pocophone F1

The phone is definitely a cheaper alternative but the specs are not reduced by any means. The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 was an instant hit since the time of its launch due to the fact that it had all the top-tier quality with a lower price point than any other phone of the same specs.

The Pocophone F1 is considered to have on of the finest and the best minimalistic looking phone in the market. The only turn-off for this phone could be the all-plastic chassis for the design that the company had to compromise to drop the price point so low.

Other than that, the phone is top contender for any other phone. The dimensions for this phone are 8.8 mm x 75.2mm x 155.5 mm, thickness, width and height respectively. It weighs at around 182 grams, making it one of the heavier phones.

It is not certified for dust- or water-resistance, so buyers might want to avoid any bathroom, kitchen and swimming pool accidents and using it out in the rain. The lack of NFC could be another bigger problem. Users won’t be able to use the Pocophone F1 for your contactless card payments via Google Pay for example.

It also has a headphone jack on the top left side of the phone and the fingerprint sensor is mounted on the back just below the cameras.

The Pocophone F1 follows the trend for tall, thin displays with a 6.18in, 2246 x 1080 resolution screen with an 18.7:9 ratio. The pixel density said to be about 403ppi that makes for ample sharpness. The screen to phone ratio is at 82.2% and also the display is protected by Corning Gorilla glass. The display is definitely big and flawless but the front camera, sensors and the speaker are held by a long notch in the top. The screen also supports capacitive touch screen and multi-touch.

The IPS LCD panel is also superb, displaying 91.7% of the RGB color space with an average Delta E of 1.27, according to the ColorMunki display calibrator. The contrast ratio is 1371:1, which does justice to the images captured with the dual rear camera arrangement.

Pocophone F1 has one of the best camera combo and arrangements for its main camera. The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is equipped with a dual-camera arrangement on the back for the main camera. Rather than putting a secondary wide-angle lens, or a 2x telephoto zoom sensor, the Pocophone follows Vivo’s by supplying a secondary depth-sensing lens.

The main camera is a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/1.9 aperture, while the secondary sensor is a 5-megapixel lens with an aperture of f/2.0. Neither sensor is optically stabilized, but the main camera does benefit from an effective dual-pixel phase-detection autofocus for a super-speedy shot. The camera image resolution is 4000 x 3000 pixels with an Exmor-RS CMOS Sensor. The main features of the cameras are digital zoom, auto flash, face detection, touch to focus and the shooting modes in the camera are continuous shooting, high dynamic range mode (HDR) and burst mode. The camera can record videos at 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps, 1920 x 1080 at 30 fps and 1280 x 720 at 240 fps.

The front camera is an amazing 20 MP camera. The lack of sensor stabilization does hamper the quality somewhat, but video quality remains impressive. There are other shooting modes such as super-slow-motion footage at 120fps and time-lapse capture.

The performance of the Pocophone F1 is also amazing. Qualcomm’s flagship mobile processor with the octa-core 2.8GHz Snapdragon 845, takes center stage. This is the same chip used in most of 2018’s flagships and, with 6GB of RAM, we can expect very similar benchmark results to the top high-end phones.

Xiaomi Pocophone F1 Performance

It has a graphics setup of Adreno 630 which gives a great performance for the gaming experience. The addressing architecture for this phone is of 64-bit.

It comes with Android 8.1 (Oreo) with its custom UI EMUI. The phone managed to score an 8.1 in the quality score and

Pocophone F1 also gives the users a great battery which is a Li-Polymer at 4000 mAh which is sure to last throughout the day. The LCD display will also help to save the battery to some degree.

Xiaomi Pocophone F1

The Pocophone promises up to 30 hours of talk time, which is better than most of the high-quality phones in the industry. It does not have the wireless charging unfortunately but it does have a v3.0 quick charging through a USB Type-C port.

Xiaomi Pocophone F1 delivers astonishing value for money. There’s no better phone for your money. It’s software experience could use some work, the design won’t be attracting glances too. If you want a flagship performance at a budget price, this is the best phone for that.

The phone costs around Rs. 17,000 for the 64 GB/6 GB and it costs around Rs 18,000 for 128 GB/6 GB in India.
In Nepal, the cost of the phone is around Rs 33,600 (6/64GB), Rs. 38,400 (6/128GB), Rs. 46,400 (8/256GB).
In America, the price of this phone is $271 – 300.
