The Samsung Galaxy A80 is Samsung’s most premium offering in the Galaxy A series this year, with new and unique features like a New Infinity display and rotating camera setup.
The phone has a premium high-quality specs and design features that can rival with the most high-end flagship phones. But the Galaxy A80 struggles to stand tall among the competition at Rs 47,990 price range.
The dimensions for the Samsung Galaxy A80 are as 165.20 x 76.50 x 9.30mm for the height, width and thickness respectively. It has a metal frame and bears a glass body. The phone has a completely bezel-less screen for the display because it does not have a front camera. This is the most unique feature of the phone because the main/rear camera is the front camera which rotates to the front when the front camera is activated.
Other designs are pretty standard for the phone with the rotating main camera on the back arranged horizontally on the top, the volume keys are on the left side while the power button is on the right side. The speaker grille and the USB Type-C port are situated on the bottom. Unfortunately, it does not have a headphone jack. The fingerprint sensor is an optical reader which is situated beneath the display on the lower half.
The phone comes with three color variation which are the Angel Gold, Ghost White, and Phantom Black.
Samsung Galaxy A80 has a Super AMOLED display. The display of the phone is actually a 6.70-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a pixel density of 393 ppi. It has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a screen-to-body ratio of 85.76 %.
It is a fully bezel-less display with no notch or chin whatsoever. The front camera is actually the rear camera that rotates when the front camera is activated. The display is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass v3.
The Samsung A80 has a rotating camera, so both the main camera and the front cameras are the same. When the front camera is activated, the back-camera part slides up and the camera bump housing the lenses rotate.
The camera setup consists of a dual-lens combo. The lenses are an f/2.0 48 MP wide lens with PDAF and an f/2.2 8 MP (ultrawide)TOF 3D camera combo. The lenses have no optical image stabilization however does have the autofocusing capability. The features in the camera consist of 8 x Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection and Touch to focus and the shooting modes are the standard Continuous Shooting and High Dynamic Range mode (HDR).
The camera is said to produce images of resolution 8000 x 6000 Pixels and is able to shoot videos at 2160p at 30 fps, 1080p at 60 fps and 720p at 80fps.
It has a non-replaceable, Li-Ion 3700 mAh battery with an estimated 30 hours of talk-time when 4G is activated. The Samsung A80 does not provide a wireless charging facility since it decided to go with a metal frame but does have a quick charging feature.
The phone charges with a standard power brick and has a USB Type-C port for the power input.
