OnePlus 6T is launched
with the successor to the widely popular OnePlus 6. It is a very good
smartphone but there is not much of an upgrade from the OnePlus 6. OnePlus 6T isn’t much different to its older
phone, in fact there are only a few changes but those changes are worthwhile.
This phone sports glass on both the front and back. It offers the choice of two
colors: mirror black or midnight black. The rear of the phone has just got the
two-sensor camera and a small flash below it, as the fingerprint scanner has
moved in the display section below. On the right-hand edge of the phone is a
power button and above that is the signature OnePlus slider that allows to mute
your phone with a quick flick. There is a volume rocker on the left-hand edge
of the device which is easy to reach. And the bottom of the phone has USB-C
port which is flanked by a speaker and microphone.
OnePlus 6T has dropped
the 3.5mm headphone jack, instead it includes a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter in the
box so that wired headphones can still be plugged. It also encourages users to
use Bluetooth headphones as an alternative. In terms of display it has changed
a lot from the OnePlus 6, that was the first OnePlus phone to lose most of its
bezel and adopt a notch at the top of the display. Now the notch has been
shrunk down to a teardrop design. The display is a 6.41-inch AMOLED screen with
19:5:9 aspect ratio that gives a very respectable 402ppi. Perhaps the biggest upgrade of all is how
you unlock the phone, and that’s by using the fingerprint sensor which is now
embedded in the screen.
The OnePlus 6T comes with similar camera setup like its predecessor. But the software is improved, notably with the addition of a new Nightscape long exposure mode. It has a 16MP f/1.7 main sensor with optical image stabilization paired with a secondary 20MP f/1.7 telephoto lens. And the selfie camera is a 16MP f/2.0 lens where the captured images are nice and sharp especially in good lighting.
OnePlus 6T is
powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of
RAM. You get 8GB in the 256GB model while you can choose either 6GB or 8GB with
the 128GB version. Gaming or multitasking between apps, this phone can handle
everything with ease. In terms of performance this is the most accomplished
OnePlus handset yet.
The device comes with 3700mAh battery that is better than ever, giving you solid day of use from a single charge. But there is no wireless charging, though there is fast-charging that means you can quickly get some juice into your phone if you need it before you head out.
