Nokia 7.1 | Nokia 7.1 Review

Nokia continues its run of impressive mid-range phones aggressively. Nokia 7.1 was launched at an event in the US in 2018. It doesn’t ooze the premium quality like iPhone XS, it takes the now-standard glass sandwich approach with aluminum edges around the sides. It features a 5.84-inches, 19:9 aspect ratio display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2280 that gives a very respectable 432ppi. There is a notch on the top which is relatively chunky and a bottom chin that’s rather thick and makes this very obviously a mid-range phone. The display of the phone is said to come up with the Pure Display screen technology and it is inherently the first smartphone to have this feature.

Nokia 7.1

The Nokia 7.1 looks gorgeous and is undoubtedly one of the more attractive phones in this price range. The glass back looks sleek and the diamond-cut chamfers and accents around the rear camera module and power/volume buttons add a touch of class. The right-side houses power and volume keys which are tactile and solidly built. The left of the phone is blank save for SIM tray, which makes you choose between a second Nano-SIM and a microSD card.

The Nokia 7.1 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor coupled with 3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB of storage. The real-world performance is quite smooth and consistent but the phone does struggle when pushed. Day-to-day tasks are handled well and UI animations are butter-smooth. In terms of camera, the Nokia 7.1 features a dual-camera setup at back with Zeiss optics and electronic image stabilization. The dual camera on the rear panel is the combination of 12MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and a 5MP secondary camera with an aperture of f/2.4.

The secondary camera or the depth-sensing camera is used while capturing portrait images. There is an 8MP camera on the front for the selfies. Nokia 7.1 also possesses ‘bothie’ feature in its camera with which the phone will be able to capture images from both the front and back cameras in a single frame. The phone has a 3060mAh battery and also supports fast charging feature with which the phone gets charged from 0 to 50% just in 30 minutes.

Price in Nepal – Rs. Rs 40,500 (3GB/32GB), Rs 45,200 (4GB/64GB).
