Description of Motorola Razr
Motorola has just revealed the new foldable screen-touch phone called the Motorola Razr 2019. The phone is absolutely beautiful and most people will know that it is the call back to the old folding Razr phone. The huge difference is that the old was one with the keypad and the latest one is an all-screen phone
This the Motorola stepping-in in the new trend of folding display phones. When the Razr 2019 was revealed, it was the favorite among the fans for the nostalgic value and the unique vertical folding display like the old folding phones.
Motorola has decided to up the game with this new phone with its flawless display and is easily the best phone with the folding display. The phone has not released yet but the hype is very strong.
Like mentioned earlier, the Motorola Razr 2019 has one of the most unique designs even among the already existing phones with a foldable display.
The specifications for the Razr are as 72mm x 6.9mm x 172mm for the width, thickness and height respectively. The phone weighs around 172 grams. Motorola has decided to go with a notch design which houses a small camera. The notch in the display probably also contains some sensors and speakers. The main camera is on the front of the phone that folds outside. When the phone is folded in, the front of the phone also has a small display for the time and recent notification with which users can interact with.
There is no power button nor a headphone jack but does have a USB Type C port on the bottom. The phone has a pretty big chin my be for al the sensors and technical features. The phone doe not seem bulky at all and retains a pretty small size when folded in. When folded the dimensions are as 94mm x 72mm x 14mm for height, width and thickness respectively. This phone has one of the best folding feeling with the hinges that feel sturdy and solid. Also, the hinge on the screen is barely visible.
The fingerprint sensor is front-mounted and does not have a wireless charging feature. The phone is apparently splash proof and as of now, comes in one color that is the Noir Black.
Display on Motorola Razr
The Motorola Razr 2019 uses a foldable P-OLED capacitive touchscreen display for the with the 16 M colors for the main display. The display is 6.2 inches with 21:9 aspect ratio, that is about 70.2% screen to body ratio. It has a resolution of 876 x 2124 pixels. The display has a notch for a front camera. The display has a pixel density of about 373 ppi and is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass v3.
The secondary display, that is on the external side of the phone when it is folded in is a 2.7-inch G-OLED display which has a resolution of about 600 x 800 pixels. It shows the time and recent notifications.
The phone has the most amazing display for a foldable phone that has a minimal hinge crease.
The Razr has two cameras, first is the main camera that folds out when we open the phone and another that is housed inside the notch in the folding display.
The main camera that is on the top of the phone in the external side that folds out is a 16 MP with an f/1.7 aperture, 1.22um lens with a Dual Pixel PDAF. The camera is a TOF 3d camera. The camera has an Exmor-RS CMOS Sensor and is able to capture images of resolution 4616 x 3464 Pixels. The main camera is able to shoot videos at 2160p@30fps and 1080p@30fps with gyro-EIS.
As for the front camera, it is a 5 MP with an f/2.0 aperture 1.12um lens which has HDR mode available. The is able to shoot videos at 1080p at 30 fps
Performance wise, the Razr can be considered one of the freshest and one of the first phones to carry the best performing foldable display. Besides that, it has a Qualcomm SDM710 Snapdragon 710 as its main chipset. The CPU is an Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz 360 Gold & 6×1.7 GHz Kryo 360 Silver) processor. For the GPU it has an Adreno 616 graphics processor.
It has a 64-bit architecture with 6 GB of RAM which is very impressive. The internal storage on this phone is 128 GB with no expandable memory.
It is capable of holding only one SIM card which is a nano-SIM type. The 4G network is also made available on this phone with all the other standard network connectivity features.
The battery on this phone is a non-removable Li-Po battery which is a 2510 mAh capacity battery. This is not the best battery but considering it is a foldable phone, the battery had to be smaller in size. It cannot be charged wirelessly however it is a quick charging Turbo power 15W battery.
The phone has a USB Type C port for charging and does not support micro USB.
This is one of the biggest septs forward in the realm of foldable smartphones. the folding display on the Razr is not perfect but is one of the best foldable phones yet.
As of today, the phone is expected to cost about €1600, $1,500 and further details will only be known at the time of the launch.
