The Honor 9X is actually the newest rendition in the Huawei smartphones Honor series. The Honor 9X is the successor to the Honor 9 smartphone edition which launched in early 2019.
Honor 9X rumored to launch on 14 Jan this year (as of 8 Jan, 2020) as a mid-range smartphone. The smartphone will bring some new ingredients that can rival any other top-notch smartphones in the market. It presents a wonderful combination of exceptional configuration, brilliant camera, ample storage, powerful battery and a lot more.
Form the reveal of the phone, we can see that Honor 9X has a full glass body with the aluminum frames. It sports a classic smartphone design with the volume keys and the power button on the right and the SIM tray on the left. On the bottom are the USB Type-C port, the speaker grill and the headphone jack. Behind the phone is a glossy glass finish with the fingerprint sensor and the Honor logo printed and the bottom.
It has a completely bezel-less display without any sorts of the notch for the front camera. The front camera actually is placed on a small motorized pop-up box that pops up when the front camera is activated. It has a triple camera setup placed vertically in the back with an LED light just below it.
The dimensions for the phones are as 163.5 x 77.3 x 8.8 mm for the height, width and thickness. The phone weighs approximately 196 grams. The phone is available in Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue color variations.
The Honor 9X sports a 6.59-inch (16.74 cm) LTPS IPS LCD display having a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and pixel density of 391 PPI. Honor decided to include a tall display for the phone but an AMOLED display in 2020 would have been far better
Like we mentioned before, the phone features a completely bezel-less display because the front camera pops up only when activated. The capacitive touchscreen supports multi-touch and has a screen to body ratio calculated at 84.28%.
The Honor 9X decided to go all out on the cameras for 2020 and decided to go with the trend by including a triple camera combo and a pop-up camera.
The main camera is vertically arranged in the back which includes a triple camera setup with a 27 mm F1.8 48 MP wide lens with PDAF, a 13 mm F2.4 8 MP ultrawide lens and an F2.4 2 MP lens as depth sensor. It can shoot videos at 1080p at 30 or 60 fps and can produce image of 8000 x 6000 pixels. The main camera has the basic Continuous shooting, HDR and Panorama.
The front camera is a single 26 mm F2.2 16 MP wide lens that houses a motorized pop-up that activates only when the front camera is opened. It can shoot videos at 1080p at 60 fps.
The sensors in the cameras actually have a CMOS image sensor and have all the standard camera functions like the Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection and Touch to focus.
One of the most crucial specs while buying any smartphone these days are the batteries. The Honor 9X is powered by a Li-Polymer battery having a capacity of 4000 mAh that will provide mobile users an ample amount of power supply to carry their daily tasks like chatting, calling, gaming, etc. without any battery crunches. The battery can be charged with the USB Type-C port provided on the bottom.
It is a not replaceable battery which the company has said to provide talk-time of up to 24 hours on 3G. Whether that is true or not is remains to be seen but we can easily say that the 4000 mAh is quite a big battery and we will be seen similar or much bigger batteries going into the 2020’s.
The Honor 9X performs on an Octa-Core (2.2 GHz, Quad-core, Cortex A73 + 1.7 GHz, Quad-core, Cortex A53) processor with a new and improved Hi Silicon Kirin 710F chipset. The GPU in the phone is a Mali-G51 MP4 which provides exceptional graphical performance making gaming experience much smoother. It comes in a 4 GB and 6 GB RAM variation which honestly speaking, is quite good. It comes with an Android 9.0 (pie) experience that works on top of its custom UI called the EMUI.
The phone provides a 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage variations and also expandable storage up 512 GB. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the back. The phone also manages to include a 3.5 mm headphone jack with the loudspeaker.
Network and Connectivity
The phone supports nano SIMs in its both slots with the features for 2G, 3G and 4G. The network connectivity options are the Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n and Bluetooth v4.2. The phone unfortunately does not have any NFC feature. The phone also supports A-GPS, Glonass and Volte with all the other standard network and connectivity features.
The Honor 9X is adequately priced at only $165.97. This one of the best prices for the phones in 2020 especially considering all the features. The phone will cost around Rs. 12,000 in India.
The phone will be costing only around Rs. 20,000 for the 4 GB RAM variant and only Rs. 30,000 for the 6 GB RAM variant in Nepal.
